WAX620PA 10.5.0.14 firmware update weakens 2.4Ghz network?
I installed firmware 10.5.0.14 on two WAX620PA's this weekend, and I immediately saw a reduction in network broadcast strength on the 2.4Ghz band. A printer that was previously connected was suddenly...

I'm having a heck of a time finding most of those settings, and searching for how to find them here is pretty much useless. Any chance you could point me in the right direction? 🙏

Hi jasondunn
The workaround can be applied as follows while enginereing team work on a longer term solution:
- Login to the Insight Cloud Portal
- Disable 802.11r on ALL SSIDs within the network location. The below step is individual to each SSID, so you will need to change it on any Organization/Location/SSID where the issue is seen.
> If your account is Insight Pro navigate to an Organization. Select a Location. Go to Wireless > Settings > WiFi and Captive Portal. Open an SSID, go to Radio Setting and set the Fast Roaming (802.11r) slider to off. click Save.
Thanks

Thanks David. Unfortunately for me, I do not pay the premium subscription fee so don't have the Insights Cloud portal access; I only have a few APs that I manage, so I do so from within the Android app. I haven't been able to find these settings in there so far; I've only been able to adjust the power from Auto to Full.

Hi jasondunn
For now the workaround is to disable just the 802.11r setting, which is available on each SSID. To disable it via the Android app:
1. Go to the Locations icon in the menu at the bottom of the App.
2. Tap WiFi.
3. Your SSID(s) will load. Tap into an SSID.
4. Scroll right to the bottom, under Radio Settings you will see Fast roaming (802.11r). Tap the slider to disable it. (it is disabled when slider is grey).
5. Click Save.
As the setting is per SSID, if you have multiple Locations with multiple SSID's, you will need to repeat the steps to disable 802.11r on each SSID in each Location.
Thanks
David

Hi All,
Please note that NETGEAR has released a new firmware couple of hours ago with a fix for this issue. Firmware version is V10.5.0.16. Please upgrade your network and let us know the feedback.
Thanks!

I have applied the 10.5.0.16 firmware on 128 APs (WAX610 and WAX610Y) across 21 network locations and performance seems to have returned to normal now even after re-enabling fast roaming on the SSIDs. Thanks Netgear for the quick response in getting this firmware updated!
