WAC104 Wireless Access Point - no internet
Hi,
My router has internet. It is connected to a TP Link 16 port Switch by Ethernet Cable. In turn, that Switch is connected to a number of Ethernet sockets in various parts of the house.
When I plug my iMac directly into the Ethernet socket, I get perfect internet on my iMac. So I know that the Ethernet Socket is working to carry internet directly from the router.
When I plug my Netgear WAC104 Wireless Access Point into the same Ethernet socket, and then connect the same iMac to the Netgear WAC104, whether by ethernet cable into one of the ports of the WAC104, or whether by wifi to the WAC104, my iMac gets no internet.
So I know there's internet in the ethernet socket that the WAC104 is connected to, but somehow it is failing to pass it on.
Any ideas?

do wireless devices connected to the AP connect?
If you connect the AP directly to your router (without the switch temporarily) does it work then?

Yes - if I connect it directly to the router without the Switch, then yes it works.
Of course, the reason I have bought the Access Point is so that I can plug it in far from the router, where the wifi from the router does not reach / is not very strong.
That's why I have run cables to ethernet points in various places.Ok. so if it works directly connected the AP isn't the issue. Its either something in the switch that is blocking or the lines have issues.
Its why we have you direct connect and test it. So start with checking the lines. direct connect the line to the router and then move the AP to where it terminates and connect and test. If it works, then its down to the switch being the issue
