WAX214 signal not visible to wifi laptop
Just rec'd this item. Intend on using this access point to communicate with wifi surveillance cams around property. I have it powered up, all lights ablaze... it's putting out the "config" signal,...

Double check there is no magic toggle or switch to enable and disable WiFi. Airplane mode enabled probably?
What make and model is this laptop?
Click on the search icon, type, and select Device Manager.
Select the Network adapters option.
no worries, this is a screenshot from a German Windows 10 system. Very similar on any language:
Sometimes this helps:
Right-click on the Ethernet/Wireless Adapter and select Update Drivers.
Select Search automatically for the updated driver software option on the window that pops up.
Wait for it to install.
Check your wireless connection.

Like schumaku says, check the driver version for the wireless card. But I wouldn't trust the one from microsofts update server.
I'd find out what one it is exactly and get it directly from the manufacturer as it tends to be newer.
But it does help to post back here which one it is.

Well, this is all water under the bridge, now.
It doesn't matter what kind it was.. .it still won't see the signal from the wax. I borrowed someone elses laptop and it can see it.
I'm smashing that other p.o.s.
ANyhow, went through all the effort to do like the instructions said...entered the default password.... joined the "management ssid", I guess.
It took me to another page.
I think I set a new local device password....but I may have got mixed up when it was asking for that and a passphrase. What's the difference between a password and a passphrase? If they wanted a security question why didn't they say "security question" I should have known something was wrong when it didn't ask for the answer to the passphrase. Now, I've got a passphrase I'm not sure of what I wrote, and have no idea how to find out where I would enter that phrase to unlock this paperweight.
I set the password.... 8 letters, upper and lower case and 2 numbers.... and reentered it and looked at it to be sure they matched....wrote it down....went to next line.
IAfter that, I thought it was asking for a "security question" when it said to enter a wifi passphrase, so I typed in this big, long sentence "what was the name of the local tv weatherman's name", or something to that effect.
I sure hope everything I typed in that line isn't what I have to enter to get in to something because I can't remember what it was. I thought I was supposed to enter a security question that only I'd know the answer to... but, come to think of it... it didn't have a place for me to enter the answer...
Anyhow, it seemed to take all that and went to another screen... and that's where I got lost.
I think I have an $80 paperweight.
I don't even know where to go to enter the security question/passphrase answer... I have no idea.
Can't access a human on the chatbot thingy .. not on weekend. I thought for sure they worked weekends in the Phillipines and Calcutta... where the call centers are.
$80 dollar paperweight...I have a hard time even getting in to this community....it seems like I have to jump through so many hoops to even find this particular discussion I started.
Signed "frustrated in Kansas"
I've tried to log in or do something on the WAX signal....or whatever you call it... and I can't log in. I type in exactly what I put down as a password...and it tells me I'm wrong.

This is hopeless.... I'll just order another new one and start over....

How and where do I find this AP and enter the passphrase to access the innards.
Sorry, I don't know the exact terminology..... I'm so pissed off I could smash the AP.. would sure make me feel better.
Maybe I should have got the homeowner brand instead of the business model...
