Wax620 very slow
Recently I deployed two WAX620 wireless access point for a client, in his newly constructed house. The house has 1 Gb/sec synchronous Internet service from AT&T. All Cat 6 cable is new and has been c...

I am having the same issue with WAX620.
Has anyone found what is making this go so slow when you have ATT fiber > NetGate PfSence firewall > Netgear GS308EP switch > Netgear WAX620
When I run a speed test on a wired connection, I get the same speed as the AP when I run the speed test on it. But when I get on wireless I am getting around 250 up and down. I can't find what I am doing wrong.

Hey,
i am also using a WAX620 and i am getting around 330 Mbits/sec connection to my servers on a full 2.5 G Network.
I am testing with 5 GHz on the 80MHz Band, Auto Channel 36.
Access point is using latest firmware.
The testing device is 2 meters away from the access point.
The testing device is using a Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz.
Newest drivers installed.
Thanks for your help.

The WAX620 requires a 4x4 client on 80 MHz, with the Inhell AX200 or AX210, a 2x2 unit operating at 160 MHZ, to perform to the max. What link rates are shown on the Windows connection? if your connection link rates are massively lower review you are operating on a free 5 GHz channel and the Internet connection is able to deal with higher throughut.
These are numbers of a 80 MHz 2x2 connection to a WAX620:
Protokoll: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
Sicherheitstyp: WPA2-Personal

Treiberversion: 22.190.0.4 - NomsurJan 06, 2023AspirantI've tested the connection with a macbook pro and now the speed is about 800-900 mbits/sec.
Much better as the windows machine.
Your windows screenshot looks exactly like my machine, so yeah it seems my wifi card is the problem? Is there by any chance the possibilty to active the 160mhz channel on the access point?
Best regards. - schumakuJan 06, 2023Guru - Experienced User
well, I'm more behind concurrent channel usage.
- NomsurJan 06, 2023AspirantSorry i dont understand what do you mean with that sentence?
- schumakuJan 06, 2023Guru - Experienced User
Other visible or (WiFi invsible) 5 GHz clients active on the same channel set is what I guess.
- NomsurJan 06, 2023AspirantI've tested different 5GHz Channels and the speed stays the same.
The macbook works well on every channel. So i think it is what you've wrote earlier.
My windows laptop wifi card isnt using 4x4 80mhz so this maybe the speed problem.
I think i've either need a new network card for this machine or a access point with 160mhz channels. - schumakuJan 06, 2023Guru - Experienced User
There are none (or not many) 4x4 capable adapters. The named Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200/AX210 is 160MHz, and 2x2 only.
