Unable to shutdown (freeze)
I've just bought a brand new RN-214 (4 bay) which I am unable to shut down properly.
The firmware has been upgraded to version 6.6.1.
The symptoms are:
When I shut down the system either by
- Pressing the power button 3 times, or
- Using the shutdown function in the admin webapp, or
- Using the power timer
then it spins down the harddrives, the fan is also switched off, but all the LEDs stay lit and the LCD says:
do_exit+890
After that the system is completely frozen. It does not respond to anything.
I need to disconnect the power cable and connect it again to reboot the NAS.
There are some similar posts in the forum. Some have been solved by upgrading to a new firmware. But I already have the newest firmware.
Any ideas what to do next?
Nach langem hin und her mit dem Support wurde mir das Gerät nun schlussendlich getauscht.
Alle anderen Versuche das Problem zu beheben sind leider fehlgeschlagen.
Zumindest habe ich nun wieder ein funktionierendes System :)

Ich antworte trotzdem mal in Englisch, damit möglichst viele Leute mitlesen können.
Good to know that there is a newer firmware version available. I will upgrade the NAS and hopefully the problem disappears.
WOL is already deactivated by the way.
What is puzzling me is that on the German support page for the RN214 the current firmware version is 6.6.0 (not 6.7.0 as on the English page).
But also the update check in the ReadyNAS admin webapp says that the installed version 6.6.1 is up to date.
That is quite confusing!
I will let you know, whether the upgrade fixes the problem.

Hi Slas,
there were some strage things happening when I tried to upgade the firmware.
When I tried to upload the ReadyNASOS-6.7.0-arm.img in the admin webapp it says after a short period of time:
Unbekannter Serverfehler
I tried again, but the error keeps displaying.
Then I switched the language of the webapp to English and suddenly a window appeared that states that a new firmware has been uploaded and I should reboot the system to install.
Ok, maybe the language change just caused this because the page was reloading, but such things make me mad :(
At the end the firmware upgrade worked but the problem persists. WIth one twist:
When I shut down, all the LEDs are off, but the LCD says now do_exit+9ec and the NAS is frozen again.
Any ideas are very welcome.
