PR60X Connecting unmanaged 5 port POE to one port on a M4250 managed switch for DANTE AUDIO USE

Simple problem I dont know if its settings in the PR60X router, or the M4250 series managed switch. We have a simple network with 1 VLAN setup for all ports and everything works. The problem is one of our locations where we have CAT6 ran only has 1 cable we need to run 3 devices so I connected a Netgear POE+ switch to turn that one connection into a few which will also power the devices which are audio announcer microphones.  When I connect any Dante device to the 5 port POE Unmanaged switch, it will not pass audio. In Dante config it shows the items connecting for a brief moment then disconnecting, something is blocking something. I spoke to Studio Technologies who makes the Announcer stations and they said sounds like the Dante Clock is being blocked.  Im thinking something security related needs to be adjusted in the PR60X if anyone knows maybe a setting to fix this problem?  Prior to this we had another branded Router that we were doing the same thing, connecting a 5 port POE switch to get more local ports and it worked fine so Im sure its something in the PR60X router I just cant find it.   We did not setup anything with Insight yet.  When I installed the new PR60X I simply logged into the IP address and keyed in our network settings and everything worked except this one problem.  I have other locations in the building with limited wires I will have to also bring a POE switch to give us more ports so I hope there is a solution to this.  The only thing we use the network for is WAN/LAN, Dante and NDI video for college sports Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

    Hello ICORINTL

And welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂

I understand how frustrating this issue must be for you. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve your problem:

    Check the PR60X Router Settings:

Ensure that there are no security features or settings that might be blocking Dante traffic. Look for settings related to multicast traffic, IGMP snooping, and Quality of Service (QoS).

Verify that the Dante devices are on the same VLAN and that the VLAN is properly configured on the PR60X router.

    Update Firmware:

Make sure that both the PR60X router and the Netgear POE+ switch are running the latest firmware versions. Firmware updates can often resolve compatibility issues.

    Disable Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE):

Dante networks require stable and consistent network performance. EEE can cause issues with clock synchronization. Disable EEE on both the router and the switch if it's enabled2.

    Check Dante Configuration:

Ensure that the Dante devices are correctly configured in the Dante Controller software. Verify that the clock settings are correct and that there are no conflicts with external clock sources.

    Consult NETGEAR Support:

Since you're using NETGEAR equipment, reaching out to their support team can provide specific guidance and troubleshooting steps for your setup. They might have insights into any known issues or additional settings that need to be adjusted.

    Factory Reset and Reconfigure:

If all else fails, consider performing a factory reset on the PR60X router and reconfiguring it from scratch. This can sometimes resolve persistent issues that are difficult to pinpoint.

I hope these steps help you get your Dante devices up and running smoothly. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out here.

    Have a lovely day,
