You're 100% right. You shouldn't have this problem. With pre-paired units, its rare for them to not sync. I've seen in occassionally with mine but its rare. And I've tried a bunch of the different mesh solutions. Makes me think somethings corrupt in one of them.
What I'd do? Factory reset the satellites and the router using the hardware button. While powered on, push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds or until the lights change. during bootup, hardwire the satellites to the router. set them up manually (just the bare essentials). Then re-install the latest firmware and reset everything one more time after they reboot.
Here's why I'd do that. If something is corrupt in the firmware, reinstalling the firmware can help fix that. But if a setting was corrupt or the corrupt firmware was causing it, you need to both reinstall the firmware and reset the devices to overwrite it.

Hey thanks for the reply. I didn't have any trouble with this set of 3 for the first 3 years. It started acting up after a power outage by losing connection with the satelites, but if I left it alone it would eventually reconnect. But then recently it would disconnect the satellites and they would not reconnect. The instructions say not to use the pairing method for pre-paired devices, but since they weren't connecting I had to try that. It failed. I did all the steps, rebooting all devices, cutting power then rebooting all devices, using a paperclip to do a reset on all devices, went through adding the router by scanning the QR code and completed setup. This left the system with a working router that shows 2 satelites that are disconnected. I repeated all this multiple times because in the past one attempt could fail when a second one would succeed.
If I have a corrupt firmware, it would have to be in both satellites since both are disconnected. I don't know if you are familiar with this model. It won't work with the Orbi App. Instead I have to use Insight App. I have also tried using the web interface.
When every attempt to connect the satellites failed, I chose to delete them from my account which removes them from my system so Insight no longer shows I have any satellites. So, then I used the method to pair the satellites since the system would not detect them and add them in its own. (I I did do a reboot of the router in hopes it would detect the satellites and add them) This worked once before when the same thing happend. But this time, that doesn't work either. Oh, also, I did connect ethernet cables between the router and 2 satellites and attempted to 1. get them to connect by rebooting the router 2. running through the manual pairing method.
I am able to see them in Insight and they all have the most recent firmware.
Right now I am using the router alone to power my 46 devices and things are not terrible, but laggy.
I think I have attempted everything you suggested, but if I missed something please let me know.
