A couple things.
1. The C6220 is a modem/router combo device. Its not user updateable. Its pushed from the ISP when they provision it.
You can check the version your on to the current isp ones.
Sometimes a factory reset and reinstall will pull a new provisioning from the ISP.
2. Many times, connection issues are related to your line connection from the isp. Do you have a screensnip of the cable connections page and event logs?
3. Try logging in through the browser and not the app. When the app gets caught in that loop for 'app update', it can be a pita.
