Can I use my WNR3500L v2 as anetwork switch??
I had to get a Cox Cable modium (a newer NetGear C6300BD) and it is also a Router and WiFi unit, I am told I cannot run two routers on one system so had to disconnect me Netgear WNR3500L v2.
BUT I need to hook up more computers that I can with the new modium/rounter..
I read somehere here that these include a 1Gig LAN fuction, or switch, so IF I do not hook up to the Internet input plug and ONLY plug into one of the four LAN plugs will this work as a plain switch and not try to work as a router??
Then I could plug in three (the unuesed LAN plugs)?
OR is there a way to turn off the rounter function?

Yes, you can use the WNR3500L as a switch.
- Disable the DHCP server
- Assign it an unused IP address in the same subnet managed by the Cox modem. Make sure this address is outside of the range of addresses managed by the DHCP server on the Cox modem. Otherwise, you run the risk of an address conflict. For example, if the Cox can hand out addresses between 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.100, then assign 192.168.1.101 or higher to the WNR3500L. If the address range on the Cox is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254, then change either the starting or ending address to free up an IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.253). Write down the address you assign to the WNR3500L. This is the address you will use to log into it in the future.
- Connect the WNR3500L via a LAN port
- Optionally, enable Wi-Fi on the WNR3500L for extra Wi-Fi coverage. Congrats, you have just set up the WNR3500L as an Access Point.
