Isn't Airprint WiFi based? What printer do you have? Printer needs to be compatible with Airprint.

Of course it is! It is AirPrint :)
If my printer was compatible with AirPrint, I would not bother myself using NETGEAR's Genie app.
However, as it is one of the product selling points, quote: „NETGEAR genie makes any printer AirPrint compatible“, it becomes an issue.
Above I have listed number of symptoms, which are not directly related with AirPrint – more of an app stability itself, I believe. My R7000 shares the printer on network tremendously. And no genie or other apps are required in this case. When it comes to iOS devices, there has to be a small script running on some of the network computers, to share the printer as an AirPrint device (since printer does not have one itself).
At this point genie app fails. Trying to figure out why.
Cheers,
M.

Even if you make it work depending on Genie it'll be non-ending frustration. My two printers are on wireless. NFC, Airprint compatible. No problem using it, 100% trouble free. I never bothered using Genie when I am using netgear stuffs. Mostly I use Asus routers. Saying this I never use USB ports on routers either.

You're on the right track. This has nothing to do with the router. The Genie program running on your computer provides the AirPrint functionality for the printer connected by USB to the router. It's clearly misbehaving. Try reinstalling it. Use CCleaner or Geek Uninstaller to make sure all traces of the program are removed before reinstalling. Note: The computer itself must be able to print to the printer, so make sure that works, too.

Looking at the evolution of Genie from day 1 it has been a resource hog and even continously improving you may be asking too much out of
Genie? Even if you make it work it won't be robust like real compatible printer. Airprint simulating software is pretty complex I would imagine.
What if when time comes you are using non-Netgear router? New printers don't cost so much. Real money drain is toner cartridges or ink
carridges. I had to bite the bullet and moved to color laser multi function and dedicated photo printer. After all 90% of routine printing is done on laser, 10% photo printing. Over all incidental cost is not bad. Also multi function capability is not lost as a wlreless connected networking printer.
Any user on the network can print, fax, scan, copy at will. Try to do that with Genie.
