Content Filtering with Netgear Genie

When I attempt to individualize the filtering settings from within the network map, the filtering setting will not change from "default level on router" regardless of the device or the alternative setting I choose. It acts like the change will take effect, but as soon as I review the details on the device it will say "default level on router."

Ultimately, I would like to have a default custom filtering level through Open DNS that is significantly high, but allow certain devices to have full access.

Please help!

    Hi abruckla,

    1. What is the version of the NETGEAR Genie program that you have installed?

    2. What is the operating system of the computer?

    3. What is the model number of your router?

    4. What is the firmware version of your router?

    Regards,

      Genie version is 2.4.16.

The computer primarilly used to make changes has Windows 10. Many computers on the network, however, are running Linux Mint (I do not beleive Genie comes in a Linux compatible version.) I have a two other computers with Windows 10 and even 1 with Vista. The computer I use does not seem to make a difference.

      Router is a WNDR3700v4. Firmware is 1.0.2.78.

        Hi abruckla,

        1. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the app?

        2. Do you mean that the issue is the same with the other Windows 10 and Windows Vista computers?

        3. Please try updating the routers firmware to the latest version (1.0.2.80) and check if the issue persists.

        Regards,
