Family safety does not work

The family safety does not seem to work on my Night hawk R7000 as my 12 year old was able to bypass it in 15 minutes. It is not able to filter sites like Youtube or Google news. the other issue is the Genie app is inconsistent. Sometimes it shows the device name and most times it is IP address which is useless. the PC App is not able to block and unblock a device. Only option is to use iPhone version to block through the network map. Any ideas?

    Hi FamilySafety,

    1. What is the firmware version of the router?

    2. Are other devices also able to bypass the filtering?

    3. Does the issue persist no matter what filtering level it is set to?

    4. What version of NETGEAR Genie do you have installed on the PC?

    5. What is the operating system of the affected PC?

    Regards,

        Hi FamilySafety,

        1. Please make sure that the DNS values on the router UI are set to  208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

        2. Did you setup a new OpenDNS account through the NETGEAR Genie or are you using an already existing OpenDNS account?

        3. Please make sure your filtering settings are in sync via https://netgear.opendns.com/sign_in.php.

        Regards,
