N600 WNDR3400v2 Parental Controls Not Working
I have a N600 WNDR3400v2 that I have had for some time. I just tried to enable live parent controls. It says that it is enabled. I have an Open DNS account. The firm ware version is V1.0.0.52. I have the settings to High and yet it does not seem to be blocking any websites.
I was trying to be able to block inappropriate material from Reddit for my teenage son but it doesn't seem to be blocking anything. Does this work by blocking whole websites or by blocking material from websites? Maybe this is not capable of doing what I would like it to do--block inappropriate material from any website as well as whole websites. Can someone clarify this for me.
Does any one have any ideas why this doesn't seem to be working at all? I have tried reading other conversations but I am not very computer savy so need detailed instructions of what to check please!

Hi CC2005,
1. Have you tried changing the filtering level to "Custom" and specify the categories that you want filtered?
2. Does it block other sites that fall under the filtered categories for the "High" filtering level?
3. Does it affect all devices in the network?
4. Please check the DNS values on the router UI and make sure it is set to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. You may find the link below helpful on how to access the router UI. It will be under the Basic tab and Internet.

I am a new user and am also having a problem getting parental control to work on my router. I have tried setting it up via Genie from two different computers and I cannot get it to block anything. I have followed the steps in these instructions, and have also tried to set the default blocking to high and create a bypass account, but no matter what I do, nothing gets blocked.
I have also tried to set specific block policies on devices using the network map, but no blocking. My device's DNS settings are set to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. I can successfully log in to my OpenDNS account but can't get it to apply the settings. I am using Verizon Fios as my ISP.
I see that you always ask this question, so my answers are below:
1. What is the firmware version of your device? WNDR3400v2 / V1.0.0.52_1.0.81
2. What version of NETGEAR Genie do you have installed? Version 2.4.36
3. Has it worked with this specific device before? No
4. Have you tried resetting the device? Yes
5. Are you able to sign in to your OpenDNS account using the link below? Yes
