Netgear Genie Crashes
I have had no problem accessing the router through the browser. However, I wanted parental controls so downloaded the Netgear Genie app to my laptop. Each time I open it, it stops working almost immediately.

There are many post about running Genie on laptops, and the type of issues user's experience, one is what you are expereincing, and an other big one, is it can actually effect the performance of the router. If I were you, I would uninstall the Geneie app, from your laptop.

Genie has been working fine on my Lenovo Carbon XI even after I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7. Today (9 Oct 2015) Genie informed me that an update was available -- it even said the update added Windows 10 compatibility. Well guess what. Now the program crashes on start every time. I get the message "Genie has stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution". Anyone know if there is a way to roll back to the previous, NOT IMPROVED FOR WINDOWS 10 verision, so I can run it on Windows 10?
Cheers

Hi dmowbray,
We are already aware of this issue and we are working on a fix. In the mean time, you can refer to the download link below for the previous version (2.4.12) of NETGEAR Genie.

Thanks for this information. I have installed the older version and it is working again.

Hi,
On my Windows 7, the app crashes as well. Opening the debugger, and inspecting the stack pointed to NETGEAR_PLC_L2_API.dll. However deleting the file caused no change in the behaviour.
I am running the NETGEAR Genie v2.4.1.0. After deleting the above file, the app did not crash.
