netgear genie not displaying
I have a D-Link DIR 655 router and the EX6200 is 5 feet away. My laptop connects to the ex6200. The device-to-extender, 2.4ghz and 5ghz lights illuminate. I fire up Firefox, the 2.4ghz and 5ghz lights go off.
Should they go off ?
The url bar displays www.mywifiext.net/IA_frame.htm but the page remains blank. So I cannot proceed with the install.
I tried another url I saw in some posting, something like www.myWi-Fiext.net (not sure what it was) and also got a blank page.
I've also tried with a current Chrome and some IE10.
What should I do?

- eddyystopAspirantMore accurately, the 2.4 and 5ghz lights go off as sson as my laptop connects to the extender.
- Retired_MemberNot sure placing the extender 5 feet away is helping, doesn't the install instructions give you some guidelines for placement and state what the status leds should look like?
Make sure you are using a security level which is compatible with the extender - eddyystopAspirantThanks for replying. My intent was to point out the Extender was within range of the router.
The lights turn on as indicated by the setup guides when the extender is powered up. All they say for after that is I should start a browser and the netgear genie appears. They do not mention the lights any more.
The only other info I have found is to type in several other URLs if the genie does not appear. I have tried them all on several browsers but only get a blank page.
A Trouble Shooting guide would be useful. - Retired_MemberWhat are your security settings?
- eddyystopAspirantI tried again today the same things I did last evening. This time the setup page displayed unlike yesterday, and I installed the extender successfully.
The only thing I can think of is that it seems to take tens of seconds for the extender to be ready. Perhaps I started the browser before it was ready. The setup paper provided with the hardware perhaps don't stress that enough.
Anyway, @seaway thanks for helping. I appreciate it.
