nighthawk android app not allowing me to change names of attached devices
I have the current version of the nighthawk android app. I go to update/change the name and icon on my phone so that I know who and what is connected to my router (like in the old genie app) but it gives me the answer "unable to update. please try again later". This is very frustrating because I had NO issues with the genie app and now that I am forced to use the nighthawk app, I can't do the same. The PC version I have no issues. What is going on? Is there a setting on the router that needs to be turned on? If so, why can I do it with the PC and not the android phone version?

Because it's a hit and miss - some router firmware does not allow by Web UI, some fail by using the Nighthawk App, some even fail on both. Some more dependency exists on the number of connected devices.I don't understand why Netgear does not manafe to fix these issues over all routers and App versions @AbhayB why oh why please?
- JJSZ1TutorIt's very frustrating when they intentionally break something that works. It litterally makes me want to find another brand that will work when you ask it to. Someone at Netgear needs to sch on this or just dump their app all together like they did with Genie app.
Yes, while Genie was not faultless, there are many more interop issues with the Nightawk App and the supported routers. Looooong list of bugs and collected issues - https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-App/BUG-REPORT-Speed-Test-Information-Home-Screen-Wrong-Speed-Test/m-p/1737540#M9371 Does Netgear care? Nope.

Same issue, except I have saved some, then the next one won't save. Exit app, come back and maybe it will save one or two, maybe it won't. Grrr
- JJSZ1TutorIt doesn't even give me the opportunity to change the name. It's VERY frustrating to the point I'm thinking of dumping Netgear and going with some other brand. I know Netgear doesn't care but at some point the people that make decisions have to see the error of their ways. Or not.

- MbizdadInitiateThis was driving me nuts also, but discovered changing the icon 1st, then the name of the device seems to work.
