Nighthawk App and C6250

The Nightgear app on my iPhone keeps telling me the firmware for the c6250 is out of date. But the routerlogin.net menus don't have an option for updating firmare. That a normal feature of the using the c6250?

  • It is a bug an the app. Netgear claims that it is on the case. Has been for some months.

The message actually makes no sense. You have the C6250. That is a cable modem/router. Neither you nor Netgear can change it.

Only the ISP can do that.

What’s the latest firmware version of my NETGEAR cable modem or modem router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

If your firmware is outdated, you cannot manually upgrade your cable modem’s or modem router’s firmware. You must contact your Internet service provider (ISP) to upgrade your firmware.

So what is the point of an app throwing up that message?

Thank you for confirming the madness ... it is ridiculous the app continues to give the message. It's also recommended to use Nighthawk to control the device.

      Thanks again!

Here is the longest running discussion of this insanity.

I'll have the info forwarded to our App Team to look into the Nighthawk app and request for any changes needed.

Experienced users avoid using apps for local control. A browser does more.

The apps are fine if you need Anywhere (Remote) Access.
