Nighthawk app

Is this really all that the app has to offer? I have a r7500 and the app does not offer very much compared to others I've seen. My buddy has a Asus app that allows him to do so much more? Do I just try and log in through. PC instead? For information on what I'm trying to do I want to see all the capabilities of the router and make sure I'm not missing anything when setting things up for gaming.

  • Set up is best done through the Web UI of the router, not via the app. The app is there to control stuff after set up.

This approach only falls over with one or two things force you to use the App, like Parental Controls.

You can't handle that in the GUI, much to the annoyance of some users.

Hard to tell. You don't say what you think the Nighthawk app does and what might be missing.

The general view is that the app is fine for simple stuff, but detailed configuration and monitoring are best done with the a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI). There just isn't enough screen space to do everything on a  mobile device. And doing too much over wifi can be risky.

Really serious gamers take a giant leap for gamerkind and buy a gaming router, one of the XR series.

These come with a baffling array of bells and whistles.

It has the DumaOS operating system. But there too I suspect that GUI management is the preferred option.

First launched in 2014, your R7500 is getting a bit long in the tooth, and may have been designed in the "pre app" era.
