You are not alone. The firmware update that switched off the Netgear app removed some useful features, including parental controls.
Netgear is pushing the paid for "Circle" hard. But that isn't available on all devices. (Your R6120 is a bit "bottom of the range", doesn't even have gigabit LAN if the data sheet is correct.) I doubt if they added Circle to it.

One way around this is to forget about the app and use the standard browser interface to get at parental controls
