RS200 Nighthawk App Device List

(09/18/25) I have the Nighthawk app v2.47.0.4909 on my android and the most current firmware (v1.0.5.12) installed on my RS200. If I log in to the web access for the router, all the attached devices are listed and listed properly. However, in the app, that is not the case. Devices that are attached are not listed, devices are listed incorrectly, and others are not showing up at all. EG: my laptop is connected via 5G Wi-Fi but is only listed in the app as a wired device that is not connected, also, new devices (like the new tablet we got our daughter) is not listed at all. Router has been rebooted and power cycled, app had the cache and memory cleared and reinstalled, all has had no effect on devices listed in the app.

What brand and model devices do you have all connected?

What brand and model# is the android device?

How many total devices are appearing on the RBRs web page vs what is seen in the NH app?

Same thing happens on a different mobile devices to compare?

Is Smart Connect enabled or disabled on the router?

What channels are being used for the wifi radios?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

In what way are devices listed incorrectly?

    • The MAC address is incorrect?
    • The IP address is incorrect?
    • The description ("name") of the device does not match the description in the web version?

Is the Nighthawk app using a local connection or Anywhere Access?

  • Descriptions do not match up with the web version. I ended up in the app looking at each IP address of 'generic' attached devices to find the one I was looking for and manually updating the information for that device....

(caveat: I have Netgear Orbi, not Nighthawk)

My observation is that the web interface Attached Devices display can be different from the 'app' Connected Devices display.  Apparently, both applications appear to use a form network deduction to attempt to determine the manufacturer of the network adapter used for connection by each device.  (Perhaps licensed from one of the prominent companies.)

    • The web interface has an option for user to 'click on' the device description that shows in Attached Devices and enter customized information, such as the product model number, a "name" used to describe the device, and a pull down menu to select one of the generic devices 'types'.
    • The app interface also has a method for the user to click on a device and customize the way the device is described.
    • Both of these mechanisms are "thrown for a loop" when a WiFi device randomizes the MAC address, leading to generic descriptions that are (essentially) nonsense.

These two mechanisms do not necessarily 'sync up' or coordinate.  There are numerous devices connected to my Orbi router which have slightly different descriptions.

Perhaps the Nighthawk web interface and 'app' behave in a similar manner?
