Unable to connect to the Nighthawk app
Hello,
I am currently using the AC3200 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C7800). I want to connect to the Nighthawk app but it seems as if there’s a bug on the app and it says the firmware needs to be updated. I checked the website to see what firmware my equipment should be on and it is on the correct firmware version indicated on the Netgear website for my equipment and my internet provider. I’m reaching out because I use a 3rd party app on my fire stick and suddenly it no longer connects to my internet. Everything else works fine though, just not that. I was advised to check if any security things have changed randomly through the app but can’t reach anything. Any suggestions will help thank you!

Do you have the latest version of the app? Which one are you on iOS or Android?

It certainly cannot do much with "security things", whatever they may be.
You get more control with a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI).
Rather than looking for possibly irrelevant solutions, start by explaining what problems you have with this anonymous third party app.
It is easy to scream "router" whenever you have a problem. Suppliers of third party stuff, even ISPs, will certainly try to pass the buck in that direction. In reality there can be many other ways of breaking stuff.

I am on the latest version of the Nighthawk app on iOS and I've tried the app on both my iPhone and iPad and I get the same error regarding needing to update firmware.
I am using a 3rd party streaming app on my Firestick and my iPad. The streaming app works well on my iPad when I am not connected to my home Wi-Fi network. The moment I connect to my Wi-Fi network, the app no longer works and it just has that little round thing where it buffers and nothing ever shows up.
And the 3rd party app on my Firestick, it also just loads and it tries to log in and it fails and it says "please check your server address, username, and password."
I have contacted the creator for the 3rd party app and they said other people have had that problem as well and they were able to fix it by changing security settings on their ISP provider website and/or their Nighthawk app and making sure I didn't have a "VPN" on. He says this issue randomly happens without the user toggling anything.
I have checked my settings on router-login and I see no security set up or change, to my understanding. And again, I have never turned on or changed anything on my end to have something like this happen.
Thanks for the details. It might help someone to home in on the problem.
But there are still questions. Take this:

The "latest version" claims are infamously inaccurate with Netgear's firmware. That can also apply to the apps which roll out as and when Netgear and Apple see fit. My Android Nighthawk aoo is V 2.35.0.3631.
Then there is this:

Which security setting do they have in mind? WiFi? Something else.
Anyone using an iOS or Mac device should check this:

That's one of several security settings to check.
Never used anything from Apple so I am just guessing.
