Upgrade to latest firmware breaks Genie App access (Firmware Version V1.0.3.46_1.1.32)

Been reading through the comments here.

The problem: Upgrading the R8000 to the latest firmware disables the ability to use the Genie app for remote management.

I've reverted back to a previous version and confirm that I can connect. Upgarding the firmware back to the latest breaks things again.

Resetting the router to factory defaults in NOT an option. This would be alot of needless work and from what I've read that doesn't solve the issue.

The reasoning given for "clearing the memory" doesn't make sense. To the best of my knowledge no other router/network gear manufacturer requires a factory reset on upgrading firmware.

Please advise when a solution will be available.

  • Was a full factory reset performed before and after upgrading FW then set up from scratch?

Something you probably need to notify NG support about.

Is there an update on this?

I am currently running Firmware Version V1.0.3.48_1.1.33 and still have this issue. The Genie app no longer shows my router when attempting to remote manage.
