Nighthawk MR60 Mesh Router - Spontaneous Blocking of Peer-to-Peer/Local Server Connection over WiFi
I've scoured the web looking for any sort of suggestion on how to fix this problem, but all I can find are posts from 2018 or later with solutions that don't seem to work for me.
Here's my issue: I have my PC plugged into my router via ethernet, I have a raspberry pi running octoprint connected via WiFi, and I have my laptop running some local servers connected via WiFi. From my hardwired PC, I am able to access the raspberry pi with no issues at all.
However, from my WiFi connected laptop, I'm unable to connect to the raspberry pi even though we are connected over the same network. Similarly, I'm unable to connect to the raspberry pi through my phone (also connected over WiFi).
I've found that I'm sometimes able to connect to servers on the same network for brief periods of time. For example, yesterday I was unable to connect to my rpi from my laptop. This morning I was able to access my rpi from my laptop. After a brief power outage (about 2 seconds of no power), I'm back to being unable to access my rpi. Between yesterday and today, there were NO settings changed, no router reboots, and no other losses of power.
Another example of the same issue is when I'm running a web server on my laptop (WiFi) & try to connect on my phone (WiFi). The phone will take a few seconds to try to connect, then eventually just time out.
I'm at a loss for solutions. I don't understand why this would be happening. I'd be happy to provide whatever information could possibly help debug the issue.

You posted this in the wrong subforum - this one is for ReadyNAS storage, not Nighthawk. I am moving it for you.
- sesloanAspirantSorry about that.. Thank you for moving my post!
- sesloanAspirantI’ve done some additional searching through the forums to find a mega-thread with an extremely similar issue that has enlightened me on a few other things to note about my situation:
- On my laptop (connected via WiFi) I am able to access my router’s page perfectly fine
- All of the devices trying to talk to each other are connected to the router — not the satellite. The satellite is up and running, though
- I am currently on the latest firmware (v1.1.7.134) on both the router and the satellite
- I currently have all of my firewalls on all mentioned devices turned off or set to minimal protection
- Factory resetting the router fixed the problem temporarily, but after a few days the problem arose again
- Router logs don’t appear to provide any useful data besides the few *oh so helpful and informative* DoS attacks that Netgear thinks are happening
- I’ve also tried setting my laptop and phone as static IP addresses and trying to ping the phone with the laptop. No dice. Just the usual timeout
Tomorrow I’ll be trying to turn off the satellite to see if that changes anything AND trying out the older firmware that was mentioned in the previous thread. I’ll post whatever I find in case there’s anyone else that’s experiencing the same issue as me.
