adding additional wireless router to XR500
Last year I purchased an XR500 wirless router to replace my old wireless router. Is it possible to use the old router as a range extender using a wired port to the wired input on the old router?

what old router is it?
Some have an access point mode you could setup.

Almost any wireless router can be configured as a wireless access
point, whether or not it has an explicit WAP-mode option. However, if
you want specific advice on your (unspecified) "my old wireless router",
then you might want to reveal its maker and model number.- MikeowhiteAspirantsorry my bad.
Netgear N750 WNDR4000 is the model> Netgear N750 WNDR4000 is the model
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for
"access point" or "ap mode". Prepare for disappointment. As I read its User Manual, unless the feature was added in some later
firmware version, the WNDR4000 is too old/lame to offer an explicit
WAP-mode option. For an ad hoc scheme to deal with such models, see,
for example:https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1463500
That's written for a Netgear C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the
same for any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP
option. If the router which you're reconfiguring has a WAN/Internet
Ethernet port (unlike a Cxxxx), then leave it unconnected.
