BT FTTP
Hi there,
So in the next few weeks or longer depending on Lockdown rules i will be getting FTTP installed at my address, full fibre running 900 down and 220 up so i am excited to upgrade from the 80/20 FTTC service.
Been using the XR500 and it has served me as well as it can with that inferior speed i was on.
My question is this, setting up the XR500 was easy enough on my old connection, can the XR500 work with true Full fibre connections or am i better using the router that BT provide me with connected to the ONT?
Read somewhere that the XR500 isn't compatible with full fibre but not sure if i dreamt that!
if you could confirm then that would be great.

Should work fine.
You would need to know if the new service comes with a a built in router already on the ONT or just a ONT only. ONT only is preferred with a RJ45 LAN port that the XR router can connect too. With those speeds, you can disable QoS on the XR router.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerAs above, the router should work fine with those speeds and provider.

I have had a look closely and yes it is an ONT only with Lan port so that is good to know, disable QOS you say with those speeds ok i will do that, just use the other features like traffic prioritisation and the geo filter for the PS4 then?
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerIf you disable QoS completely then Traffic Prioritization won't work either but if you select never for Anti-Bufferbloat then you could continue to use Traffic Prio if you wish. Yes exactly.
