Cannot connect to VPN from my iPhone

I had a Nighthawk X4S that was working great. However I decided to get an XR1000V2, just for the Gaming options and faster Wi-Fi

Most things work great, some minor issues, but my main problem is the VPN.

I setup the VPN (and DynDns service) as I had to my X4S, exported the file "For Smart Phone", followed the steps to import it on my iPhone (12 Pro, 17.1.2) but I cannot connect.

I tested my IP and it is reachable from the outside. My phone has internet, but the connection to VPN, times out.

 

I have the latest firmware (1.1.0.16), I did reboot the router multiple times, tried both TCP & UDP, but doesn't work.

Settings are identical to my X4S. My line is FTTH, and the LAN cable from my provider is directly connected to WAN port, no other devices in the middle.

 

Please advise.

  • I'm not sure what the default mode the config is set to but you'll need to adjust it to TUN then connect and it should work. It's a Netgear feature so if that doesn't work it may be best to create a ticket with them directly.

      Not sure what you mean? Can you please elaborate?

        The config you download for the phone, open it in a text editor like Notepad then it should say TUN or TAP at the top, make the change if needed, save then use that saved config
