Hard reset on Netgear R8000
So my R7000 died last night. Press F to pay respects.
I went out to a second hand store and found an X6 R8000 router, but the last user changed the admin password, and Im locked out of changing any settings. Ive done the "reset" by holding the button for 30 seconds, and it still wont let me use the deafult passwords.
Is there any way of getting into this router to update the network name/settings?

"F"
Did you push and hold while powered on?
Have you tried a 30/30/30 reset? push and hold reset while powered on for 30 seconds, power it down for 30 seconds while still holding reset, then power it back on for 30 seconds while still holding reset?
Potentially you could also try forcing new firmware to it via tftp.

I have tried the 30/30/30 method, and TFTP is not possible as the router does not get assigned an IP address :(

The router doesn't get "assigned" an ip address. the router assigns the address. So if you read through the tftp process, you manually assign an address to your computer. Did you try it?
