ipad mini 1st generation Fails XR1000 WiFi at Userid, Password. Only Password for other connections?

ipad mini 1st generation will not connect, fails after requesting Userid Password;

XR1000 Connects perfectly to Macbook Pro and iphone12, also No Userid Requested.

The ipad mini 1st generation requests Userid, Password to connect to WiFi network of the  XR1000, which is strange because all other connections to XR1000 just request Password.

Have tried all kinds of "Userid's"; SSID?? Netgear64, Netgear64-5G, "admin", null, email Userid(s) with their respective Passwords resulting in No Joy.

Ipad mini 1st generation is updated to latest 9..3.6 (yes apple is no longer updating)

XR1000 is updated to latest firmware.

Have reset network setting on the ipad mini

Have rebooted XR100 (a few times).

Any Ideas of what Userid the ipad mini is requesting?

Any other suggestions welcome!

  • SOLVED.    the problem was the iPad was attempting to connect in Enterprise mode AND WPA2 like the rest of my stuff in WPA3.  So the Solution Is twofold 1) XR1000 thru DumaOS make No changes to 5G band, however change the 2.4G band to broadcasting  WPA2 and 2) iPad > Wi-Fi On > Other > Choose WPA and NOT Enterprise WPA.  And the iPad 1st Gen is on the internet!    Now if only I was an SQL programmer..

  • The only possible thing it could be is the SSID I would have thought as there is no username that goes along with connecting to WiFi. Are you using Smart Connect on the XR1000? If so that is possibly why, older devices don't really know how to handle it so disable that then connect manually to 2.4 or 5GHz and see if it works

    What security mode are you using on the router? Temporarily turn OFF Wifi security and see if the pad connects.

    Try WPA2 and TPIK. Then try AES.
