Nighthawk XR700 Problem detecting internet connection

Hi,

Got my XR700 today to replace an ASUS AC88U

I have Vodafone Gigafast and I was running my Asus directly into the fibre box with no issues, when I try to connect my XR700 the setup wizzard fails to detect the internet, I went through and updated all the settings manually (I already had them from the asus) and it doens't connect still. fwiw the internet light is lit up on the top of the router.

I tried the app, same issue...pretty sure i'm missing something somewhere and I can only find a guide to run the router through the modem that I got from vodafone. This isn't what I want to do.

Anyone have an idots guide (as this seems to be what I need apparently) on how to update the settings with what I have from my old router?

I'm on firmware v1.0.1.8 if that's relevant

Thanks,

Ross

  • Do you know if you require PPPoE or VLAN? If you go to Internet Setup and set it to dynamic and test the connection does that allow it to work? If not reboot the router first then reboot the fibre box, if that doesn't work boot them in the opposite order. Sometimes they're specific about how they want to be booted to establish a connection.

Thanks for the reply. I require PPPoE, I have a username and password from my ISP.

I spent 8 hours yesterday messing with this including 2 hours on the phone to tech support. Who told me I needed to talk to tech support and he logged a callback ☹️

I'll try restarting during set up again

Once on Internet Setup you may need to set PPPoE to Always Connect.
