Question about Nighthawk gaming router
Hey guys, I have a question and wasn’t sure who to ask.
Basically I just moved and I’m unable to hardwire my Xbox . I’m staying in a basement and the router is on the first floor. After testing, the connection is supposed to be good but I experience lag quite often when gaming. I was considering buying the Nighthawk pro for gaming to help combat this. What I was wondering was
-is this a good method to help with lag -I’m only one floor down directly beneath the router/modem, would the distance be a problem since I can’t hardwire
Thank you

If it's because lots of other devices are using the internet at the same time, downloading, streaming etc and or you're connecting to far away servers then yes the router would definitely help you.

Are you connected to the 2.4ghz or the 5gh?
What actual router are you using currently?
A gaming router is a great device but sometimes not worth the cost. Sometimes if you've already got a pretty solid router, its better to invest in $ to hardwire it in using moca adapters or powerline versus jumping to a gaming router. T

Can you get your own ISP service.
Putting another router behind the upstream router may not work or help with lag.
What is the brand and model of the host router your connecting too?
Building materials will impact wifi signal and performances. No chance of getting a LAN cable put in from the main level to the basement?
