SLOW, REBOOTS RANDOMLY Nighthawk x6 AC3200 R8000 router
Router is randomly rebooting. Dropping connections both wifi and ethernet. It is not supporting the 400 Mbps. Wants to limit it to ~100 Mbps (default settings). If directly connected to cable modem it does in fact test out to over 400 Mbps.
Nighthawk x6 AC3200 R8000 router purchased new 12-20-19. 90 days have passed so no support.
Firmware version V1.0.4.56_10.1.71
Have Ring Video Doorbell, Cellphone, Desktop, Printer, Fire Tablet currently attached.
Originally router handled 100 Mbps flawlessly.
Then 3 things happened:
1. increased the cable speed
2. updated the firmware
3. installed the Ring doorbell
As advised in earlier posts, I have reset the Nighthawk router after the firmware update, but it doesn't seem to be helping.
I also enabled QoS and defined my cable speed
400 Mbps Download
20 Mbps Upload
Because that's the only way it wouldn't be stuck at 100 Mbps.
Have no idea if Ring products cause network issues.
Is my router defective? Or am I missing something here.
Thanks for any help
What firmware are you on?
What modem are you using?
Qos isn't recommend at speeds >250mbps.
A simple thing to try (if you don't have a lot of specialized settings) is a factory reset and reinstall. The R8000 got the netgear armor update and responded well to a simple factory reset and reinstall.
