What is the real utility of QoS ?

Hello,

So I just setup the router with 2 computer connected. I was looking into the QoS option so I did a test with my main computer at 99% computer and the second at 1% of bandwidth and I started download something on the computer with 1% of bandwidth but it still use the totality of my bandwidth and that makes a big lag while i am playing even with 1%  o.O

Does that is normal ? Or i didnt undertand how work QoS

  • Thats normal as share excess is enabled which basically means if a device isn't using bandwidth it will give it to another device that needs it. If you disable share excess then it will work as you envisaged.

Ah I see thank you for that but its still wreid when I enable something for download on the other computer (torrent or p2p) it take the priority of my full bandwidth without share excess while I am playing

If you've added it to Traffic Prioritization that'll be why. Its only meant for low latency applications
