XR1000 Admin Password Reset loop

Just happened today

Repro steps:

  1. Went to the Admin home ( 192.168.1.1 )

  2. Got shown this screen

    What the heck!?
  3. Entered S/N

  4. Got asked 2x Security Questions, answered correctly

  5. Got shown this screen now

  6. Entered & confirmed new password

  7. Answered the 2x Security Questions (again!)

  8. Got shown the success screen

  9. Both "Exit" and "Login" button directed me to Step 2 again 😣

I'm at my wits' end and I'm not sure what to do.

The router is still working fine and internet has no noticable problems.

Suggestions?

If possible, I'd like not to have to factory reset the damn thing since importing settings doesn't seem to work ( tried it once 2 years back, ended up having to figure & set everything from scratch again )

Thank you in advance!

  • Your browser may have cached an old login and is trying to log you in automatically. Try using an incognito window does it show you the login box and can you login successfully that way?

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that. Will have a quick go when I get back.

      Hi Netduma-Fraser

It's not the cache, using incognito from 3 different browsers ( Edge, Chrome, Firefox ) still gives me the same error.

Are you entering quite a complex password with different symbols? If you just set the password as password are you able to get through then?

One silly thought:  When filling in the new password page, did you actually click on the Drop Down Menu and select which security questions to use (or did you merely fill in answers to the two questions which were already showing)???

      Good question CrimpOn

      1. did you actually click on the Drop Down Menu and select which security questions to use, or
      2. did you merely fill in answers to the two questions which were already showing

If memory serves me right, I'm pretty sure I did #2
