XR500 as AP mode dropped all Wifi connections
I have noticed for a while that my Nighthawk XR500 was only giving me a fraction (120 mbps) of my full internet speed (950+ mbps). I had no use for QoS, so I decided to switch to AP mode.
Now, mind you the AP mode descriptions states that my wifi would still be functional and devices would be able to access it using the specified SSID and passwords.
Sounds great, right? Switched to AP, my hardwired connections are back to the 960+ mbps but all wifi connections were dropped, cannot connect my devices back as I get "wifi connection failed".
I have reset the router, modem, pc. Forgotten the network settings on my wifi devices to attempt to connect fresh. No luck. Nothing seems to work.
I am trying to reset back to factory reset, cannot even do that. As when all the lights come back on I am stuck on this half ass AP point.
Any advice? Besides buy a new router... If I do it will definetly not be Netgear.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the host router the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended. \Is the XR the only item broadcasting WIFI. Do you have the main host routers wifi enabled?
How do you have both Basic tab/wireless and Advanced tab/wireless settings configured?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch.

The update found no new version of the firmware. I cannot connect back to the router interface to find out exactly.
The NG is connected via CAT6 to a Hitron EN2251, the standard used by Spectrum.
The XR is the only WIFI broadcast in my home.
I cannot see the settings as I am no longer able to connect to routerlogin.net or via Nighthawk App. I do know the channels were set to Auto on 5Ghz and 11 on the 2.4Ghz channel.
The XR is not taking a factory reset, I have pressed the reset button and held it for 30 seconds and it just goes back to the current settings.

Had this worked before or did you just configure AP mode on the XR router?
FYI, AP mode will not work on the XR router as the host ISP service device is a modem only and no router built in here. The XR when in AP mode needs a ROUTER to service an IP address and internet traffic to the XR router.
To get back to router mode, factory reset the XR router by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds then release. Then walk thru the setup wizard at 192.168.1.1. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.
