XR500 Connection drops constantly due DHCP renewal

This is really painful, I think is since I upgraded firmware recently from Netgear. At random times, but most noticiable when I try to play a game like Overwatch. I lose connection to server and I am kicked out of the game and even penalized. It happened also with voice applications like Skype, Discord etc, not just games.

Checking the logs in DumaOS I can clearly see my Lan IP is lost and renew constantly, with the pattern below. This happens often and several times in a row. Even writing this post It was challenging at times for this reason.

I have tried a bunch of firmwares from here, the beta, etc. Even one of the latest on DumaOS saying Fixed DHCP leases :(. I think my only option  at this point I guess is going back to a old firmware?

Now this router is pretty much useless and I can't understand how a bunch of firmwares trying to fix the issue, got nothing here. I am really disapointed.

Tried also factory reset, which is really annoying, giving static ip addres but still I get a renew lease on a reserved one, yay!

I have seen similar posts here but no real solutions, so please let me know what I can do other than buy another router.

Thanks.

  • Sorry to hear this! Did you factory reset after installing the beta firmwares? This is often required after installing a new firmware as it clears out any low-level code left over from the previous firmware. Of course, if the latest beta firmware doesn't resolve the issue for you, you can certainly revert back to and older firmware that was working for you. Netgear are actively working on the DHCP issue so you will only need to use the older stable firmware until we are able to release an update that is verified as the fix for the DHCP issue.

Yes, I did factory reset, every time I tested the firmwares. Which is really painful as I have to readd all the devices back to the router.

I will try with an older firmware and see what happens but this problem seems to have been around for a while and not going anywhere.

      Thanks

Do other devices experience disconnects or is it just this one device? If you disable the Geo-Filter does it happen less?
