2.4hz bands

I am not seeing what channels are being used for the 2.4hz band devices in the Orbi app, only 5hz nd 6hz.  And is there a benefit to dedicating a set channel versus letting the router select. It seems that for the 5hz it's using an "average" or worse channel when there are better choices.

Orbi 770, two satellites.

What mobile platform are you using? Anroid or Apple?

What FW version is loaded on the 770 series?

I can see which frequency the device is connected at with my 770 series and Orbi app on my Iphone 12 Pro Max:

The Orbi 'app' omits much of the detail about the system which can be found easily using the web interface.

Page 22 of the User Manual describes how to log into the web interface:

Page 59 describes the WiFi settings.

Generally, the goal is to use WiFi channels which are the least congested.  There is even a feature in the Orbi app called WiFi Analytics which shows how many nearby WiFi systems are using each channel.  While one might think, "ah.  I can just pick the channel with the fewest systems!" that may be naive.  Many WiFi routers are set to "auto", which means they periodically scan the WiFi space and may change the channel.  So, today there may be no nearby systems using channel 1, and tomorrow there may be 10.

Thanks, I understand the theory behind the Auto setting, but it always seems to select an "average" or worse band, when other channels are "better" or "best"

  • Android, FW 10.5.20.3

And I can see devices connected to the 2.4hz band, but when I use the Wifi analytics and go to network status, I can see my SSID when I filter for 5hz, but when I filter for 2.4, all I see is an SSID that starts with NTGBH_... don't see a list with my SSID

I see mine on my Android pad:

However notice if I leave it, it seems to disappear:

Not if this is a refresh issue ot the app doing another scan and doing other things.

You might shake the mobile device and do a submit bug report thru the app. Take screen captures of what your seeing to submit with the report.

(Geez)  after spending a few minutes with the Android Orbi app...... what garbage!

    • Filtering by frequency band does not appear to work.
    • Sometimes the Orbi the phone is connected to appears... and sometimes not.

I have several WiFi Analytics apps on Android devices that work fine.  The Orbi app...... not so much!
