I have the app on my iPhone and it shows devices offline when they are online

I am having the same problem more than 3 years later with RBE871.  What you suggest is not a solution.  I have named all the devices and will not go back to square one.  When is NETGEAR going to fix the problem.  I’m having it with Windows 10 & 11 and with both Chrome & Edge browsers.  I have the app on my iPhone and it shows devices offline when they are online. I’ve created a case #49279170.  Once again, when is NETGEAR going to fix this problem.

    What model iPhone do you have? 

    What iOS version is loaded on it?

    What Orbi app version is loaded on the Iphone? 

    Same thing happens with a different mobile device? 

     

    Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

    What all do you have connected? 

    How many devices in total? 

     

    Do devices appear connected at the RBR and RBS in the app? 

     

    Are RBS wirelessly connected or ethernet connected to the RBR? 

     

    What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? 
    What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

    Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR? 

     

    I have my 870 series online now, been online for a while now. Devices are all appearing as they should.

      The size of the house is not the issue.  All of the devices attach and work fine.  The administrative part of viewing the devices with app or a web page in Windows is not correct.

    Unlike Open Source activities where everything seems to be an "open book", commercial firms almost never publish information about their development efforts.  We have no idea how many software engineers are employed at Netgear or what any of their assignments are.  Maybe someone has been tasked to investigate this issue.... (or maybe not).  Maybe someone fired up an 870, observed that all connected devices showed up as Attached and said, "works for me."  Thus, "your guess is as good as mine".

     

    We make a lot of assumptions when attempting to understand questions, such as:

    • This RBE871 system is in 'router' mode.
    • If there are any satellites, they are connected to the router using the default WiFi connection. (not 'wired')
    • The system is running firmware v10.5.20.4
    • "Showing devices off-line" indicates that they do not appear in the iPhone app list of Connected Devices or in the web interface Attached Devices.
    • There are no devices in the app or web interface with the IP address(s) of those missing devices.
    • The same thing happens with other web browsers.  (For example, I installed Brave in order to have a web browser that I can "delete everything" (cache, history, saved passwords, etc. etc.) without affecting my day-to-day activities.)

    When trying to explain unexpected situations, often the first step is to replicate the problem.  (I do not have an 870 Orbi system.)  Apparently FURRYe38​ has one running and it displays attached devices correctly.

     

    Not being able to replicate the problem makes analysis more difficult.  It is much simpler when:

    • Systems are on different firmware releases.  The Forum contains numerous examples of users deliberately installing a previous firmware version because "that one works" and the most recent firmware does not.
    • Things fail with some browsers but work with others.
    • Things work on the Android app but fail on the iPhone app.
    • Specific devices exhibit a problem while others do not.

     

    "what is different?" between your 870 system and FURRYe38s system may hold the key.
