Orbi app problems

I upgraded to the Orbi 700 series.  I followed the app instructions.  During the instructions I renamed the factory issued account name to a personal account name for the system.  Moving on to add the satellites, the app locked up and would not proceed.  I deleted the app and reloaded the app.  Now the app locks up at the  log in page when attempting to log in to link the Orbi devices to the app.  Can anyone offer any guidance??  Thanks

Do you have a device with a large enough screen to run the Orbi web interface?

    Desktop, laptop, tablet?

I have found the Orbi 'app' to be a bit tricky when connecting to the router.  Sometimes, it asks for login information, and it is not clear whether the app wants the web administration credentials or the app login credentials.  (It often suggests email addresses that I have not used for YEARS.)  Using the web browser interface avoids that ambiguity.

  • I renamed the factory SSID credential to the name and password of the existing Orbi network name as I am upgrading to the 870 equipment.

"account name" seems ambiguous.  There are three sets of credentials in connection with Orbi WiFi systems:

    • The primary WiFi network credentials, which are printed on the product label.
The name (SSID) is usually the letters "ORBI" plus two digits.  The password is a couple of random words and some digits.
Many users rename these credentials to match the WiFi system that is being replaced.
    • The web administration credentials.  The user name is always "admin" (lower case) and cannot be changed.
The password is initially "password" and the user is badgered into changing it to something "more secure".
    • The Orbi app credentials are usually the email address and password used to log into the Community Forum.

Which of these credentials were changed during the setup?

Were you able to complete the setup using the web interface?

If not, then use the router IP address if you know it, otherwise use orblilogin.com
