Setup a brand new RBR850 with two satellites this week
I am having the exact same problem. Setup a brand new RBR850 with two satellites this week (purchased directly from Netgear). Setup went perfectly and I could access the web page (I'm in AP mode so it is 192.168.1.2) and the Orbi app on my iPhone worked perfectly as well.
Opened the Orbi app on my iPhone today and it couldn't connect; when I tried to go to the web page received error "Can't connect to server from Safari" and "This site can't be reached" from Chrome browser with additional message "192.168.1.2 refused to connect.".
The router and satellites are working perfectly and my WiFi network is great. It's just that I cannot administrate. Like the original poster (@if42), I do not want to reset until we know what caused this as it will just happen again.

Thanks for responding.
When configuring the AP setting, I used a fixed address of 192.168.1.2 and I've confirmed that it is still the one being used (I can see it in my main router table and it's listed as active and as the Orbi).
As for getting to the 192.168.1.2 address, this is from my Mac computer (not the iPhone). I've tried it with both Safari and Chrome. I also connected my Mac directly to the RBR850, turned off WiFi and still could not connect to the admin site.
I also tried on my Windows 11 laptop using Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome with the same results. So it is not tied to the Apple privacy and security settings around the Private IP and iCloud Relay.
Basically I'm stuck with a fully functional WiFi network but I can't login to administrate it.

You can't open 192.168.1.2 in a web browser and get to the RBRs web page?

Same as?
Unfortunately Netgear's new community software has a habit of creating "orphan" replies that don't follow on from anything.

Is that just with the iPhone?
Does this ring any bells?

In AP mode it is down to your main router to set the IP address.
To access the RBR850 you need to track down the IP address that the router has assigned to the AP.
Look at the main router's list of attached devices and see if you can use that IP address to get into the router.
Did you reserve or "fix" it on 192.168.1.2?
