Adding a access point to my AX6000 Tri-band Mesh Wi-Fi Router with one satellite

My house is a large  "U" shape, with lots of wood and items on the walls.  I have the Orbi AX6000 Tri-band Mesh Wi-Fi Router with one satellite. I'm looking to use my old nighthawk AX8 Wi-Fi 6 Extender as a Access point to help cover a problem areas. Can I hard wire the nighthawk to the satellite, it's closer to the satellite, or does it have to be hard wired to the router?      So I also plan to  hard wire the satellite to the router which is on the other side of the house, which  might fix the problem area without using the satellite. Any suggestions?

You can hardwire the extender to either the router or the satellite either would work.

Just make sure when you set it up that you set the AP on separate channels as the orbi system and with a different ssid.

Otherwise your roaming will be messed up and you'll have interference between the 2x systems.

So setting it up on a different channel  and a different SSID, means this will work, but not as a continuous  mesh .    Guessing AP can not be part of a Mesh system.  If this works ,  I need to decide to run another AP in the far corner of the house for the internet and outside cameras.    Can a AP be setup not to broadcast?

Correct, it doesn't integrate with the mesh so you don't want it to have the same ssid or your roaming will tend to be "sticky" and not roam very efficiently. You can set it not to broadcast but then whats the point of it?
