Are all the Orbi 6E units interchangeable?
The Orbi 6E system seems to only be sold in 3-packs (RBKE963), 4-packs (RBKE964) and as an "Add-on Satellite" (RBSE960).
I have a lot of questions:
- Are these, in reality, the same single hardware unit, sold in 3, 4, and 1-packs, respectively?
- Will there be a 2-pack available, and if so, when?
- If I just buy the single-unit RBSE960, can I use it as a regular non-mesh router, and subsequently add on one or two satellites to turn it into a mesh?
- If I buy a 3- or 4-pack, will it work to split them up into multiple locations (e.g. 2 for my house, 1 for my parents)?

Yes.
NG recently has come out with the RBR single unit. So you could start off with that first and then you can add on a RBS, one or more at a later date:
You can use un-used RBS with another RBR 9 series at a different location.

Unlike some other brands of mesh WiFi where all the units are identical and the user can connect the ISP feed to any of them, Netgear mesh systems are not interchangeable (routers can only be routers. satellites can only be satellites). There must be one router in every system, plus as many satellites as desired. So, that 1 satellite for the parent's house will require a router to function.
