AX4200 with 3 satellites hard wired

I have 3 RBS750 plugged directly into the back of the RBR750.  My wireless devices all drop wifi at random times. Google AI is telling me that a backhaul status of Good is not correct for a wired connection.  

Also now that I have a Netgear unmanaged switch next to the RBR750 can I wire the Sats to the switch instead of the router?

    What firmware version is on the system? 

     

    What CAT# LAN cable are you using between the RBR and RBS? CAT6 is recommended.

     

    What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

    What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

    What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

    What model# is the LAN switch? 

    Yes you can connect the RBS to the back of the LAN switch and then connect the LAN switch to the back of the RBR.

    BH status of GOOD IS correct for both wireless and wired RBS.

     

  • Firmware = V7.2.8.2_5.1.18

    New 4000sq single story with basement. Pros installed 14 Cat6 lines all deadhead into the basement where I also have the router and the Fiber ONT. Everything is very far apart from each other.

    I had a tuff time getting the sats installed originally but I had a cheapo Dlink 8 port hub and the Router would not recognize the Sats via wire just wifi backhaul.  All this equipment came from my old house but with only 1 Sat.

      For that size of home, the RBR and just two RBS should be enough.

       

      It's best to first wireless connect the RBS to the RBR, having RBR and RBS near the RBR or in same room. Once they are wireless connected then ethernet connect them to the RBR with or with out the LAN switch in the mix. Once all is good, then place back into remote locations where ethernet is connected there with the NG switch in between the RBR and RBS. You will have FULL 1000Mbps backhaul connection to each RBS ethernet connected to the switch and would not be reduced. Why Ethernet BH is preferred if the infrastructure is in place for it.

    It is wrong. "Good" is what I see on my own wired backhauls (both on RBR50 and an RBE871).

     

    FWIW, backhaul problems generally don't result in dropping client wifi connections.  Instead the wifi connections remain strong, but the clients connected to the satellites can't reach the internet.

     

    Is there any pattern to the connection drops?  For instance, it is happening when you move a device to a different room?  Are clients in a particular area of the house dropping more often?

     

    Also, I am wondering if the issue is actually the ethernet connection between the ONT and the RBR750.  Have you tried a different cable on that connection?

    While you can do this, the overall backhaul throughput does decrease.  If you directly connect both RBS directly to RBR, both satellites get full duplex 1 gbps throughput.  With only one RBR connection to a switch,  that is cut in half.   If you have a lot of network traffic going through two satellites at the same time, that could reduce your performance some.  (This would come into play only if you have a lot of local network traffic - for instance clients connected to a NAS).
