Mar 08, 2022Change Orbi RBR 50 with RBK 852
I have an Orbi RBR 50, newly bought the Orbi RBK 852. My question, can I simply replace the RBR 50 with the RBK 852 with the network username and password of RBR 50, that would save a lot of work. Thanks for the support
CrimpOn Actually my IoT devices did great when I did a pure wpa3 setup. It was a irobot vacuum that wouldn't connect with wpa3.
So I had to go back to wpa2/wpa3 mixed mode (working at that time)

Yes, of course. Every time I replace a WiFi router I give the new one exactly the same WiFi name (SSID) and password as the old one.
I do the same thing. Use the same ssid/password whenever I change routers.
The only time I ran into issues was when I had a device that didn't support wpa3.
Otherwise everything has simply connected and worked.

"A device"? Out of my 50+ devices currently on-line, I doubt that any of the "Internet of Things" (IoT) devices support WPA3.
Just to be clear, SSID and password being the same will allow devices to connect as long as the security settings on the new system are the same. If the new system defaults to WPA3, that can cause a definite problem.
Likewise, the newer systems default to supporting 802.11ax on all channels (2.4G, 5G, 6G). There are lots of IoT devices that struggle when ax is enabled on WiFi.
