Solved

Did we ever get a solution to RBR750 not assigning IP addresses after reboot/ power cycling ?

This is an ongoing Orbi problem. I have even tried buying the Cable router /modem combo CBR750 and it does the same thing.

The only solution I have found is to do a hard factoiry reset, ( paperclip) wait a few, then go into router settings and do the following:

Make any changes ( if needed) to basic set up

then change the NETWORK NAME then click apply  (wait for changes to be applied)

SECOND change the password for the network click apply  (wait......)

Now everything works again and after a little while all of your 2.4 and 5Gig devices will be connected again.

Saving a router config does NOT work because it applies both network name and password at the same time... this does not work.

It has nothing to do with apple or PC, computer or phone access via app or web-- I have tried them all it is a bug in the system software somewhere. It refuses to get the proper instruction from Comcast / Xfinity internet signal. I used to use all apple airport extremes and never had a problem. I "upgraded"  ( so I thought) to Orbi to get better speeds. But you CANNOT REBOOT OR HAVE ANY POWER LOSS or its back to factory RESET!!  Horrible design.

Additionally, the app is terrible as well as the "web access". I have seen many posts stating the satellites are not connected, or one out of three is etc. and it only shows a fraction of the devices actually connected to the network. The solution to this is to download a third party Wi FI monitoring app that will show the mac addressses of all of your devices connected and you will see that often the satellites are indeed connected to the network and you were receiving false information from the app or web access portal. When you place little to no importance on the web access data you will find your sanity will be restored and the system is working just fine!

If Netgear can finally come up with a TRUE FIX for the reboot/ power cylce issue then the Orbi would be fantastic. When it is up and running I have NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever in a 2500 sq foot 3 floor colonial ( one satellite per floor and a fourth to cover the entire backyard pool area).

just my 2 cents....

I would at least turn down the power to 50% though. Your probably over saturating your home with wifi signals.

Look for SIP ALG under Advanced Tab/Setup/WAN Setup I believe. Was mentioned a while ago that some users had better operation with this enabled. Was supposed to be for Voice communications.

To change the default IP Pool range, go in under Advanced Tab/Setup/LAN setup and you'll see .2 and .254 seen for the DHCP IP address range. Just change the 2 to a 100 and the 254 to a 200.

Do both of these at the same time and then apply and reboot the RBR.

I have not see this issue on any of my Orbi systems including my CBR750.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

What is the Total size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

So if you turn OFF the RBS and just leave the RBR online. Emulate a power outage by pulling the power adapter for 15 seconds then back in or reboot the RBR from the RBRs web page, do devices not get any IP address after the RBR is back online?

I haven't seen this on mine that last time I had it online. Haven't seen others wit this problem.

        Let us know the details.

Also I recommend changing the default DHCP IP address range to .100 thru .200. I've never used the default range unless NG wants me to.

I have even purchased the CBR 750 and the samething happens.  is it something with the signal from Xfinity that the Orbi doesn't like??  My apple extremes never did this. I do not understand why the Orbi cannot be rebooted or repowered.

For this size of home, you have too many RBS. I would turn OFF one of the RBS. You can turn down the power on the RBR to 25% as well first to see if this helps anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings https://youtu.be/UR0viMLISz4

Perform a full factory reset on both router and satellite(s) then set up from scratch. Do not load any saved backup configuration files.

Change the default DCHP IP address pool size to .100 thru .200 as well after the reset.

Also enable ALG SIP on the router as well.
