How to factory reset satellite of RBK

Hello all,

So what is the correct procedure to factory reset a satellite belonging to an RBK pack by itself (RBK850 in this case)?

That is without performing a factory reset of the RBR and (possibly) other satellites.

  • Turn I would try turning OFF the RBS. Then go to the RBRs web page and select "Remove" from the page so the RBS doesn't reconnect there. Then turn ON the RBS wait for the WHITE front LED to blink. Press the reset button for 15 seconds then release.

Sorry, that "RBK853 in this case" not RBK850.

  • Perhaps a little context is in order.

Given that firmware V4.6.3.9 is rather problematic performing a factory reset fairly frequently has become an unfortunate necessity.

Most recently I've been seeing a problem where the kit satelites will reboot ending with a blue light on them.

Sometimes (last night in fact) a satellite will continually reboot.

So far, when this happens it will stay with the blue light on long enough to factory reset it via the reset button on the back but the kit satelites don't behave like an add-on satelite where they end up with a solid white light and are ready for syning. They end up with a blue light and always fail if a sync is perfromed using the router web UI.

What I'm after is what is the correct procedure to factory reset these satellites in this case?

I'd like to be sure the satellite factory reset has been done properly because I'd like to avoid the full factory reset when I can since it takes quite a while, so doing this for an individual satellite before going all the way would be very useful for me.

I do remove the entry when I try to reset them but I have always been concerned that performing the reset while the satellite is booting can lead to bricking the device. I don't have any actual justification for this, it's just an assumption.

Are you sure about resetting them during the early boot?

Have you done this yourself without problem?

This also implies that kit satellites will perform an automatic sync. which is what I've come to suspect.

Is that what you believe to be the case?

There's nothing about it in the user manual.

The problem is that I always find myself wondering if the device has in fact been fully reset to factory defaults.
