Netgear RBKE962 satellite keeps disconnecting intermittently

I have the RBKE962 satellite positioned in my lounge room, which is connected wirelessly to my TV, streaming box and soundbar all in the same room via 5ghz.

The main router is down the hallway.

every now and then I will check my lounge room devices (TV, streaming box, soundbar) on the Orbi app, and they connect back to the main router down the hallway which has a poor 2.4ghz signal. it seems like the satellite disconnects intermittently which forces my lounge devices to revert back to the main router signal.

to get my lounge room devices connected back to the satellite, I have to power cycle them (TV, streaming box, soundbar) , then they will reconnect to the satellite straight away.

the satellite is connected via wireless backhaul and the connection says 'GOOD' in the orbi settings.

The satellite is about 10m away from the main router. Am using the latest firmware V7.2.6.31.

Can anyone suggest any possible solutions so my devices stay connected to the satellite?

MIght try moving things around a little.

Many devices have their own roaming protocol and they'd "prefer" to be connected to the primary router if its close enough. Maybe the 10m isn't far enough away for them to choose the satellite over the primary router.

No. When I power cycle the devices they immediately connect to the Satellite because it’s the closest one next to it.

Somehow the Satellite is dropping connection intermittently. This is the issue.

I think I might need to connect the satellite via wired backhaul.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

How long has this been happening?

The distance between the router and satellite is just over 30 feet. (10 meters).

House is not that big. Not sure exact square meters.

I noticed it when my YouTube on my LG TV started buffering and getting slow connection. Wondering why. I was checking out the Orbi app and seeing what was connected to the satellite.

Then I saw that my lounge devices were connecting to the main router, and not the satellite.

Once again, when I power cycle my lounge devices they immediately connect to the Satellite and have a super fast connection. But I noticed after a few days something happens and then my devices connect to the main router.

Something is causing the Satellite to disconnect. And I have actually noticed it sometime in the morning where I would see the Satellite flash with a blue light , then eventually the blue light would turn off.

My RBKE962 is fairly new. Only had it for about a month.

Might bring the RBS in just a bit closer to the RBR and see?

FYI, v.31 FW hasn't been good for users, you might downgrade the system to .21 on the RBS first then RBR lastly and then factory reset and setup from scratch and check for this issue. v.21 is most stable version to date.
