Firmware Update Instructions:
To update your product’s firmware, follow the instructions in your product’s user manual.
To find your user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/,
enter your model number in the search box, and click the Documentation button on the product page.
If you manually update, be sure to update the RBS first, then RBR lastly.
NOTE: Update the RBS first, then the RBR lastly. After the FW files are loaded and the RBS and RBR are ready, power OFF the RBS and RBR for 2 minutes then back ON.
Unplug the power adapters from the power wall outlet.
A factory reset maybe needed if problems are encountered:

So, currently running 4.6.3.16 thru my RBK852"s. I've noticed that this version doesn't seem to handle my satellite very well. Most everything seems to be running thru my Router, whereas I've got my Ring Pro, 6 feet from the satellite and it still wants to run thru the router instead, which is about 25 feet away.
I've heard the FW 4.6.6.11 uses the satellite better than the newer 4.6.7.5.
All seems normal when I go to orbiligin.com. Satellite is synced perfectly and I've made no other modifications to my settings.
Do you think I should give the 4.6.6.11 FW a try?

I had many issues with the default firmware, si I have upgraded to 4.6.7.5 (which is not officialy released), I has fixed some bugs (ethernet backhaul in port 1 of the router in AP mode was not working).
Since, I have many disconnections without any reason, My PC, my macbook are loosing the Wifi very ofter, so now I give up, I lost too much time on this, I work from home and I can't wait for a stable firmware to be released.I though buying the most expensive system would be the best but, it looks like this product is not mature yet...
Parcel are on the way back to amazon.
- rr20552ApprenticeIn my opinion v4.6.6.11 with CTS/RTS enabled (i.e < max value) seems to be the most solid combination when it comes to satellite stability.
I was given a debug version a couple of months ago but honestly haven’t had a single instance of satellite drop out / reboot since.

Have you tried v5 yet?
Mine ran for 13 days with no issues on v5.

I'm officially done with Orbi. Even with 4.6.7.5, the system becomes unstable after several days of use. Even ethernet connectivity became unreliable, as the ports would start only connecting at 100Mbps. I'm tired of having to consantly perform full resets to get things working again. I'm back to an Asus AiMesh system and it's working so much better.
The Orbi is heading to the electronic waste drop-off, as I refuse to sell a broken product to someone else. Hopefully the components and metal they get off the boards will be more useful than the system was as a router.

Just curious, have you tried using a new cable?

The cable is fine. The problem is only when connected to the Orbi when it starts to act up. It's 100% reproducable.

I'm kind of in the same boat so far with this version of firmware. I am still getting dropped connections off and on. Resetting the router helps, which makes me think it's some sort of memory leak in the fw. I turned off logging which someone else suggested and lowered my 2.4 power to 50%, but it didn't do anything. Someone else mentioned they could see memory usage on the router? I'll need to search in this forum for how to do that to see if I am experiencing the same. It's a shame I really love this router / satellite and it's an absolute beast with its range but these dropped connections are killing me. If anyone has any diagnostic suggestions, please let me know.

Probably a HW issue then. You should contact NG support and ask about RMA options.

Dear Readers,
My problem since day 1 of buying the Orbi 852 set in begin 2021;
A continuesly 15 to 20 seconds Wifi Signal drops on the Satellite (tests done via EMCO Ping tool, running on a window 11 workstation, via wifi connected to this Orbi RBS Satellite, with or course, LAN disabled)
After months of frustration, and several official NG Firmware updates, with the same results, I decided to implement the BETA releases, mentioned by FURRYe38 .
Result:
Both RBR and RBS on FW version 4.6.6.11 : Same Problem
Both RBR and RBS on FW version 4.6.7.5 : Same Problem
(Yes ,every FW upgrade and downgrade action done with full factory reset and powering down both devices for more than an hour, as advised by FURRYe38 , many times in various splendid written posts…Kudo’s for that FURRYe38 )
A downgrade of the RBS Satellite to 4.6.6.11 did the trick: I have a stable set now, no more wifi drops on the satellite since a more than a week, this without any reboot of the RBR and RBS …
The RBR router is still on the 4.6.7.5. version.
I know that the advise is to keep both of the hardware items on the same version of the FW, but for me this works the best.

Did you try a full factory reset on the RBR and RBS after applying the FW versions you loaded? Something that may be needed next time. You should be using same version of FW on both RBR and RBS.
I saw zero issues with mine loaded on v5.
- ManusBAspirant
yes I did, and I did a full config afterwards, no restore of a backup file..
For now I keep it like it is, and wait for the official release of the new version firmware
- Asch_72AspirantI just joined this community as a last ditch, throw of the dice to sort out my orbi issues before I rip it out and bin it. Have had the System for nearly 2 years, the range is ultra disappointing and the stability horrendous. I tried today to get support as I had finally had enough and couldn’t figure out how to contact anyone without paying for a 130$ support subscription.
I used to work with Netgear and from what I can see, this thread offers me the opportunity to test their firmware for them.
Not impressed but I will give it a run this weekend to see how it goes.
I have hard wired the Sat to the router to solve my range issues but stability is simply isn’t good enough now that the wife has gone back to work and the load increased only marginally.
Looks like an engaged community here. Hopefully we get a good outcome- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User

Hi guys,
i have a configuration with RBR and 2 satellite..
my backhaul is wired and i setup it on a dedicated giabit switch.
all devices are upgraded to fw 4.6.7.5.
the RBR is configured on AP mode, its wan uplink is going to my mikrotik router where i menage dhcp, nat , ppoe for connection etc etc..
what i can see .. the system is not so stable, and lot of time i got disconnected.. performance are not on top..
the mesh network is on 2.4 and 5 ghz.. and i have mised devices connectes but not more 20..
my house is about 100mq for floor.. and i have 3 floor.. one Orbi for every floor.
what do you suggest to check ? networking is ok between the orbi device , to router etc..

A long time lurker here, but here's my contribution. Been running 4.6.7.5 on my RBK853 system for 3 weeks. Initially, after updating the router and all satellites to 4.6.7.5, I caught my router rebooting almost daily. After disabling all logging, system uptime is now almost 10 days without any problems. Also, memory consumption has stayed quite low.
I have router mode enabled, ax wifi (WPA3), guest network (WPA2) with full power. Armor, Circle and add-ons disabled. All logging disabled.

If you re-enable logging, does the memory usage go up?

I was on this version of FW. Thank you. I heard there was a beta version released after this one?

Just curious if anyone has seen any Memory Usage spikes upwards or towards maximum usage value and if so, see any problems?
- tjtrimbleLuminary
Mine crept up to 738MB over a few weeks then went back down to 627MB 2 days later. I saw this same behavior a couple of weeks ago. I have all the logging turned off...not sure what is being written/stored in memory. So far it hasn't maxed out and I'm coming up on 60 days up time.
