New RBKE960 and RBSE960 dropping internet when connected to Xfinity router in bridge mode

I just purchased RBKE963 to replace ORBI850 that was not working.

RBKE960 was working fine when in dual mode with xfinity CGM4331COM in dual router mode.

As soon as I turned the BRIDGE MODE on the Xfinity route, ORBI goes from INTERNET STATUS (WAITING, NO SERVICE and after few min back to GOOD)

Internet drops are constant and will happen at least 7 times a day.

I read most of the posts and reinstalled the firmware, rebuted the sitem to factory setting, cycle, restarted and no change....

As you all know Comcast is no help and Netgear tech support has no solution. I been on hold and calls with the same issue on the Orbi850 since December of 2021.

Any help greatly appriciated

  • Sorry to hear your problems with your RBKE960.  I have the same Orbi AXE and also the same Xfinity XB7 (CGM4331COM) modem, set to bridge mode and my Orbi in router mode.  I have not experienced loss of Internet Port connection like you've reported.  To confirm, it's the Internet Port connection that is lost right?  Therefore we can ignore for no wi-fi settings, distance between satellites, etc. for now because none of that would break your internet connection.

Make sure you're running the latest V6.0.3.85 firmware version.  You have one ethernet connection from the modem to your Orbi, right?  No need for WAN/port aggregation since both sides support 2.5Gbps ethernet.  Are all your orbilogin.com Advanced...Internet Setup settings then at the defaults?

  • One more thought, what other options have you changed from the defaults that affects your upstream internet connection from Xfinity?  For example, have you changed any of the WAN Setup options or Advanced...IPV6?  IPV6 defaults to Disabled but I changed it to Auto Detect.  If nothing else works you might try that just to see if it makes any difference.

Thank you for your reply. CTS is set to 2347 Domain server set use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Channel set Auto, 48,101. I have latest firmware. Domain and password personal settings Rest is set to factory original settings.

All works great in double router mode.

As soon as I turn on the bridge mode on the Xfinity router my interned starts dropping. Loose connection to all devices as well as the application message under the internet block under basic starts shifting from good, waiting to error/no internet.

I don't have any good ideas for why your Xfinity modem in bridge mode is causing these new issues for you.  Suggest trying (out of desparation):

        1. After switching to bridge mode, Send a reset signal to the Xfinity modem.  I do this sometimes when it's having problems, either through the phone (800-COMCAST phone menu option) or via the web portal at https://customer.xfinity.com/#/services/internet ("Restart Modem" button).
        2. Try setting Advanced / IPV6 to Auto Detect and see if it makes a difference.  My experience is Xfinity supports IPV6 and you can select this option but still run IPV4 in your home network.
