Nintendo Switch 2 and Orbi 753 WiFi Information

Good morning, I have an orbi 753 system and a Nintendo Switch 2 that is correctly connected to 5GHz WiFi. The orbi router is almost next to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, I noticed something: when I looked at the router logs, I noticed that the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to send a lot of DHCP requests even when very close by, but the console is always connected to WiFi. Why do you think it does this? Have you solved the problem for those who have a Nintendo Switch 2? Thanks.

Can do a search in the forums to see if others have posted about it. May not have since the switch 2 is fairly new product.

Something to ask Nintendo support about as well.

What FW version is loaded on the 750 series?

Does this happen if you turn OFF all the RBS and just connect to the RBR only?

Try setting a IP address reservation on the RBR for the game device.

Hi, the console is connected to the WiFi directly to the RBR in 5Ghz, I have not turned off the satellites and on the RBR and satellites there is version 4.6.9.11_2.3.5 which works well.

You are behind on FW. Could update FW and see.

        Might try v.21 version first...

    The original question is appropriate:

DHCP servers respond to queries.  Some time ago, I discovered that a Windows 11 laptop would not "have internet" when I opened the lid.  (Rather than turn it off, I closed the lid to keep my cat from walking over the keyboard.)  After setting up Wireshark to capture the Ethernet connection between the laptop and the router, I discovered a sequence when I opened the lid:

    • laptop would issue a DHCP request
    • Orbi router would respond with an offer
    • laptop would issue the SAME DHCP request ... (AGAIN!)
    • Orbi router would respond with the offer
    • etc. etc. etc.

My 'solution' was to reboot the laptop every time I opened the lid.  Some months later, a Windows software update fixed this issue and I no longer have to bother.

The moral of my story is that sometimes devices are just 'broken'

The default DHCP lease time for most Orbi routers is one day (actually 86,400 seconds).  If a device on the network issues a DHCP request in less than 12 hours, the device is not working correctly.

Hi, thanks for your reply. So, could the problem be with the Nintendo Switch 2 software? The console remains connected to the internet, though. Thanks.
