Hi, thanks for your reply. I can't activate the IoT network, and I can't move the satellites closer together because they're placed in specific spots to cover the house. Why does Orbi sometimes use 20MHz and sometimes 40MHz in 2.4GHz? Thanks.

Sounds like the device is ping ponging around and can't get locked in to the closer or one particular signal. Saw this on my 850 series years ago.
What FW is currently loaded on the RBS and RBR?
What channels are you using?
20/40Mhz channel co-existence is for neighboring wifi signals that you maybe around on 2.4Ghz. Long time policy. You can force 40Mhz only on 2.4Ghz.
Distance in between the RBR and the RBS and each other? in Feet.

Hi, thanks for your reply. My router and satellites are running version 4.6.9.11_2.3.5. I'm not updating because the system works fine for months, so to speak. I only have to restart it a few times. The 2.4GHz Wi-Fi has the 20/40MHz option enabled, and I've never disabled it. Isn't there a way to use only 20MHz? I don't know exactly how far apart the satellites are. My router is in the study on the first floor, the first satellite is on the middle floor, and the second satellite is in the basement. When I restart, the two satellites always have the blue LED. I read that you had a similar problem. How did you solve it? Thanks.

So 4-year old firmware. And you are saying that there is a problem. Also, several updates over the years have addressed security vulnerabilities
I suggest updating.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't updated because I'm afraid there might be problems. Now the system works fine; it's always worked fine, let's say. Only Powerwall 3 does this sometimes.

What channels are you using?
Distance in between the RBR and the RBS and each other? in Feet.
It's up to devices to pick and choose the channel width. We can only force 40Mhz by unselecting the check box. Checking the box uses both 20 or 40Mhz and depends on signal noise and quality and what the device will pick.
v4 doesn't have IoT support. V7 FW for the 750 series came out with IoT support. I recommend updating:

Just want to clarify that the device can connect at either 20 mhz or 40 mhz when the box is unchecked.
What changes is the behavior when the Orbi detects another access point using the 2.4 ghz channels. If the box is checked, it will stop using 40 mhz channels. If the box is unchecked, the orbi continues to them.
